blu-e and DJ Pitch join forces for a split EP on ACEN051. London-based newcomer blu-e delivers his first tracks on the label with two slow-fast dancefloor stormers, whilst label boss DJ Pitch conjures two more distinctive experimental club cuts.

blu-e opens proceedings with when u feel the heat. Syncopated drum patterns, heavy bassweight and an infectious melody lay the groundwork before scrambled double-time drum patterns roll in to pull the track into hyperdrive. The track builds to a dubbed-out breakdown, pulled back into a heavy rhythmic workout to close the track.

essdee9 picks up in similarly dancehall-inspired territory with clicking percussion, booming kicks and rolling 808 snares. Mesmerising melodic lines float above a detuned vocal sample and heavy subs, building to the introduction of timestretched breaks in a mutant jungle section.

DJ Pitch takes over with Motorboat. Kicking off in a similar tempo range, but working in a contrastingly more playful style, Pitch opens with bouncing percussion and a fleeting chopped vocal. The track breaks down to introduce the soothing, Ocarina of Time-esque woodwind hook which winds its way through the track.

Agrippa is driven forward with upbeat rhythms and repetitive bass stabs, before introducing an erratic brass melody, which cleverly sits amongst the track’s compelling rhythms. A sublime pad is later introduced, adding a haunting edge to the off-kilter dancefloor track.

ACEN051 is available across all digital platforms on the 18th of August.
